**Your new role**:
BAE Systems Maritime Australia (formerly known as ASC Shipbuilding), has been contracted to deliver nine of the world's most advanced anti-submarine warfare frigates to the Royal Australian Navy. The Hunter Class Frigate Program will create and sustain more than 5,000 jobs across BAE Systems and the wider Australian Defence supply chain over the life of the program.
As the Networks Technical Lead, you will provide technical leadership in the delivery of hardware, software and transversal services forming part of the Hunter Class Blown Fibre System and oversee network design. Additionally, you will be working with suppliers to define, agree and document the technical solutions required.
Reporting to the Delivery Lead Networks and Computer Infrastructure you will:

- Delivery of the BFOCP (Blown Fibre Optic Cable Plant) interface documentation
- Liaise with BFOCP Stakeholders to Lead the BFOCP requirements specification
- Lead the Shared Infrastructure (SI) Shared Network Infrastructure (SNI) technical scope and work with the SI Engineering Manager to ensure the network meets the demands of the System
- Maintain all Network baseline information, leading activity to manage configuration control and responsibility for a coherent document set
- Deliver regular updates to the network addressing policy, ensuring coherence with the developing specification and design
- Manage and lead Blown Fibre transverse requirements and compliance, liaising with delivery teams as necessary
- Liaise with supplier and delivery teams to capture and track part maturity information
- Manage the Blown Fibre engineering team to deliver tasks and activities and meet the program objectives

About you

**As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have**:

- Degree level qualifications in an Engineering discipline and engineering experience enabling eligibility for admission to the Institution of Engineers Australia, as a Chartered Professional
- Sound general background in Systems Engineering, with experience of both software and hardware
- Knowledge of computer systems networks and software systems
- Demonstrated complex problem solving, analytical skills and decision making experience
- Experience of supplier technical management / liaison
- Track record of successful leadership of engineering or delivery teams
- Ability to communicate and build relationships with people at all levels (verbal and written skills)

Clearances
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
