**About us**

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

The single most important goal of Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.

The State-wide Specialist Women’s Mental Health Centre is a 35 bed women’s mental health service. This is an innovative response to the Royal Commissions recommendation on private/public partnerships and the need for gender and sexual safe units.

**What you’ll be doing**

In this role, you will use your lived experience of mental health challenges to build positive connections with consumers to support their personal recovery and wellbeing and improve engagement and self-management. You will use a range of activities to convey and inspire optimism and hope, and be involved in the initial meeting with the consumers and support self-advocacy for individual consumers.
**About you**
- Lived experience of your own mental challenges and a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery that inspires hope and belief in recovery - essential
- A willingness to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery - essential
- Formal qualifications are not mandatory for this role but may be helpful - Certificate IV in Peer Work, Cert IV in Mental Health, Intentional Peer Support training
- Australian working rights
- Full Covid-19 and Influenza vaccination
- Current Victorian Driver's License
- Current Working with Children Check and be willing to undergo a Background Check
