**About the facility**

Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 6,500 staff and more than 1000 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 21 key locations throughout the region.

**About the Role**

Barwon Health is advertising for an exciting opportunity for dual trained neonatologists-general paediatricians, neonatologists and general paediatricians with a special interest in neonates, to join our team from February 2024.

These positions will make up a total of 13 neonatal paediatricians providing service to a unique combined neonatal service, covering both one of only two Level 5 neonatal units in Victoria (UHG) as well as the Special Care Nursery of St John of God Geelong Hospital.

The Neonatal Paediatric Unit at Barwon Health will operate closely with the General Paediatric Unit to provide an encompassing paediatric service to the Geelong and Bellarine communities. There will be a particular emphasis on all medical staff playing an active role in quality and safety improvement initiatives. The unit has immediate access to world standard research through the Deakin University Child Health Research Unit that is heavily embedded in the clinical space.

And after handover there’s ready access to all the surf
- and turf-based recreation the Bellarine and Surf Coast has to offer.

Essential: Commitment to maintenance of neonatal skills, supported by Barwon Health
Desirable: Experience in general paediatric medicine beyond neonatal experience
