About the branch
The Police Advisory Branch provides legal services, strategic advice and representation to the Chief Commissioner of Police and, by extension, all Victoria Police personnel across the State.
- The branch is involved in a diverse range of matters, including but not limited to:

- Criminal law, police duties, powers and responsibilities;
- Statutory interpretation, criminal disclosure obligations and subpoenas;
- Administrative law, privacy and information sharing;
- Summary prosecutions and emergency management.

About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Legal Assistant to join our Police Advisory Branch as part of the legal support team that provides comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to a team of solicitors. Day to day responsibilities would include:

- Preparing correspondence and court documents
- Assisting in preparing matters for court, including liaising with clients and barristers
- Opening, closing and archiving files
- Amending & formatting documents
- File management - maintaining orderly, up to date legal files in electronic and hard copy format
- General administration - mail, photocopying, scanning, couriers, deliveries

Skills and experience
- Demonstrated experience providing legal support is desirable
- Ability to provide high quality and responsiveness legal administrative assistance to more than one solicitor
- Understanding of litigation processes/procedures and court systems would be desirable
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to service excellence

Please note a requirement of this role is holding a Baseline, Negative Vetting 1 or 2 security clearance or be willing to obtain one if required.
