Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, capacity building, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.

As the Carer Gateway Service Provider (CGSP) in Region 4 NSW (Central Coast, Hunter New England and North Coast) we are looking for an Aboriginal Liaison Outreach Worker to work across the region, based in the Newcastle region.

This is an Aboriginal identified position and is responsible for connecting with Aboriginal services and community organisations to create awareness, generate referrals and encourage access to Carer Gateway services. The role will be required to travel across the region.

This is a full time or part time contract position until 28 June 2024.
- Identify as an Aboriginal person
- Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, service providers and elders in the local community
- Proven experience in liaising with service providers and community organisations
- Capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities
- Knowledge of, and experience working in, the community care, health and disability service systems and other programs relevant to carers
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated experience in liaising and negotiating with service providers
- Strong understanding of Mandatory reporting and privacy requirements
- Understanding and commitment to carer issues and needs
- Strong computer, administration and organisational skills.

- Current NSW drivers licence and the capacity to travel across the region

Salary and Benefits

The Salary is around $83K + super, pro rata if part time employment. Additional benefits include salary sacrificing benefits, flexible work arrangements, a highly supportive team environment, excellent training and development opportunities and health and wellness programs.
