**About us**

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.

**About the role**

In this exciting new role you will provide direction and leadership in catchment and water management by managing team resources to achieve high quality strategic delivery of prioritised catchment health and estuary management activities.
- Developing and implementing priority catchment management initiatives and activities
- Managing personnel within the Catchment Management Team to ensure efficient planning, design and delivery of priority projects, environmental monitoring and analysis, water sensitive urban design and water quality remediation
- Providing specialised technical advice and practical demonstration of current best practice in water management
- Strategic planning, reporting and development of policies, plans and procedures
- Proactively engaging with the community and government on catchment and estuary management, water and remediation issues

**About you**

As a leader within the Environment Branch you will manage and develop people, inspire direction and purpose and optimise team contributions. Effective communication skills and an ability to develop creative, innovative and practical solutions will be vital to the role.

The Catchments Coordinator role requires a pro-active, enthusiastic person who has good organisational, people and time-management skills and the ability to plan and implement projects, grants and assist other staff in the achievement of tasks undertaken by the Branch.

In this management role you will be required to have high level professional knowledge and skills and advanced research, analysis and problem-solving abilities, along with a strong commitment to customer service.

This role requires tertiary qualifications in environmental science, environmental management, environmental engineering (or equivalent discipline).
