The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is Australia’s national criminal intelligence agency. We advise senior decision makers on serious and organised crime impacting Australia. **About the branch**
The Executive Branch has a key role shaping policy and strategy for the agency. It has a high level of engagement with the agency’s external stakeholders across the private and public sectors including with Australian, state, territory and international government agencies.

The branch provides ministerial and board liaison and support, including secretariat, for Board agencies and external governance committees. It coordinates the agency’s media response, provides internal and external communication, brand advice and graphic design support and manages online channels including the website, intranet and social media.

It serves as an interface between criminal intelligence collection and analysis and investigations relating to serious and organised crime, information and intelligence sharing for law enforcement and the development of whole-of-government strategies, policies and initiatives. The branch also oversees the agency’s external and internal governance frameworks to support performance across the agency, while ensuring that key accountability requirements are met.

**About the role**
The Communication Officer in the External Communication Team works closely with team members to help deliver a high-quality communication service. The role is responsible for providing external communication advice and support across the agency.

The Communication Officer works in a small team responsible for positioning the agency externally through media management, communication about specific projects, and the management of our online presence (including our website and social media channels).

The position works closely with the Assistant Director External Communication and the Director Communication and Media, as well as supporting the Chief of Staff and ACIC executive.
- Contributes to the implementation of projects within the agency’s overarching external communication strategies.
- Prepares communication products including media materials, social media posts, and website content, in line with the agency’s writing style guide, and tailored to the intended audience.
- Maintains solid relationships with clients and project teams to draft communication products, including communication and media strategies, to help them meet their objectives.
- Performs a range of administrative tasks including coordination of the media inbox, and participation in team rosters for the moderation of social media channels, website and intranet updates, and media on-call.
- Engages professionally with the ACIC executive, Chief of Staff and ministers’ offices on media and communication matters, including issues management and identification of opportunities.
