**The Role**
This Government agency works with people with disability, providers and the community to deliver nationally consistent, responsive and effective regulation of service providers.

The Reportable Incidents Officer will be part of a dedicated team that monitors the response of registered providers to adequately manage any immediate risk to a person’s safety and wellbeing, undertake assessment and investigation of the incident and follow up appropriately.

**Responsibilities**

The
**APS5 Reportable Incident Handling** Officers will:

- Assist with the management of a caseload of incidents, liaising regularly with managers as to the management of caseload
- Support the development of advice to the Assistant Director and State Director about trends, issues, individuals of concern and inadequate investigations by service providers
- Manage and resolve a caseload of complaints about the provision of supports and services by providers, including assessing moderately complex complaints and contributing to complaints handling activities, including conciliations
- Support the education and training function for providers in identifying incidents, preventing and effectively responding to abuse, and neglect of people with disability and information about the reportable incidents handling function; and
- Develop productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders to facilitate the work of the reportable incidents handling function.

The
**APS6 Reportable Incident Handling** Officers will:

- Guiding and mentoring staff around the implementation, assessment and monitoring of reportable incidents and other regulatory intelligence, consistent with the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 and Rules.
- Managing a caseload of reportable incidents in connection with the provision of supports and services by Registered NDIS providers, including the assessment of complex incidents (including deaths of people with disability) and escalating incidents for investigation or other action where necessary.
- Providing advice on trends and issues through the oversight and review of reportable incidents received.
- Guiding and mentoring officers to ensure assessments of reportable incidents and other regulatory intelligence are completed to a quality standard within agreed timeframes.
- Providing education and training to providers in relation to identifying incidents, preventing and effectively responding to abuse and neglect of people with disability, through the provision of information about our client’s functions.
- Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with a large and diverse range of external stakeholders, including state and territory counterparts, service providers, and regulatory bodies to facilitate the work of the function, and our client more broadly.
- Preparing complex and/or sensitive correspondence and corporate documentation, including reports, briefings and submissions.
- Leading a learning culture where expertise can be developed and appropriately shared.
- Supporting capability in a team environment through coaching others, effective performance management and encouraging career development.

**About You**
- Experience developing influential working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external.
- Sound analytical skills to evaluate reportable incidents, complaints and related issues and contribute to solutions, advice and capacity building.
- Highly developed organisation skills, with the ability to work in a high volume environment and the capacity to manage competing demands and to meet deadlines.
- The ability, and the confidence, to make sound judgements and decisions based on thorough research, problem-solving, innovation and evidence-based practice, to achieve the objectives

- be willing to undergo an Australian Federal Police check
- be willing and eligible to obtain a security clearance to the level of baseline

Any gaps or periods of time spent overseas for 12 or more months (cumulative) that cannot be verified by an Australian referee is deemed uncheckable, rendering the applicant ineligible for a security clearance.
