**About the Organisation**

The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) was established in 1973 to address the specific medical needs of
Victorian Aboriginal communities. 2023 marks as a landmark year as VAHS proudly celebrate it’s 50-year of
providing a comprehensive range of medical, dental, and social services for our community.

As well as providing a variety of medical services, VAHS is committed to supporting the well-being of the
community through contributions to community events and activities. VAHS is also committed to assisting
research into the ongoing needs of the community.

**About the Opportunity**

The role of the **Bunjilwarra Cultural Lead / Co-manager **is to provide cultural awareness / integrity and
community connectedness to all aspects of the Bunjilwarra program.

**Key Selection Criteria
**To be considered for this role you must have the following.
- An Understanding of and Commitment to the Aboriginal community
- Demonstrated understanding and experience of the issues associated Alcohol and Drugs and

associated impacts on the Aboriginal young people and the wider Aboriginal community.
- Demonstrated ability to provide information and educational activities to the Aboriginal young people

on the issues associated with drugs and alcohol.
- Ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both mainstream and Aboriginal

community to provide advocacy and advice and develop appropriate referral pathways, protocols.
- Demonstrated understanding of treatment, care planning and case management approaches as they

relate to Therapeutic Community principles.

develop and implement innovative solutions that are culturally sensitive.
- Ability to maintain positive stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively with key Stakeholders

(i.e/ young people, local community, elders, government agencies etc.)
- Fully approved Covid 19 Vaccinations (including booster)
