**Position Information**:
Cheltenham Girls’ High School with an enrolment of 1440 students, including 69% students from a non-English speaking background, is a leading comprehensive girls' school with strong traditions. The school is committed to providing all students with opportunities to achieve excellence in all areas of student achievement. The school has dedicated and highly experienced staff, and articulate and involved parents. School strategic directions include strengthening the partnership between the school and the community, supporting literacy and curriculum differentiation for all students across all key learning areas and supporting the delivery of high quality teaching in every classroom. In 2024 the school will implement the first dedicated HPGE class in Year 7. This position involves managing a large faculty and working collaboratively to support whole school literacy implementation.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

Demonstrated ability to lead and work with a team of teachers with a broad range of experience, in the delivery of English to HSC level, including Extension 1 and 2, lead assessment processes, team marking operations and the implementation and resourcing of the new syllabus.

Ability to lead an evaluative approach to the development of effective learning and teaching programs to cater to the full range of student abilities in a highly multicultural environment, underpinned with strong wellbeing programs.

Demonstrated capacity to work with a highly experienced executive team, leading and engaging with whole school strategic directions and supporting professional learning to implement improved teaching practices that will drive whole school improvements.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
