The NFSA’s purpose is to tell the national story by collecting, preserving and sharing audiovisual media, the cultural experiences of our time.

The Programs and Place team was recently restructured to include Property, Security and all aspects of public engagement: public programs, learning, experiences, exhibitions, events, visitor experience and venue hire. The Property and Security section is expected to work cooperatively across all branches and teams, including collection management, digitisation and information technology, with an emphasis on ensuring a safe site for visitors and staff and actively contributing to project and program delivery. The team support the NFSA’s mission by providing staff with a safe and productive work environment by managing the Agency’s property strategy, accommodation and facilities as well as the provision and development of protective security services.

Based at the NFSA’s headquarters in Acton, ACT, the Manager, Property and Security will lead a team delivering facilities, office services, property and security services to the NFSA including the management of a heritage listed building. As an experienced manager, you will have extensive knowledge of various property policies and procedures, coupled with strong client service, leadership and communication skills. The ability to manage change, analyse issues and work under pressure is vital, as is a client focus and commitment to producing quality outcomes.

Under limited direction undertake the following duties:

- Lead and mentor a small team to ensure that office services, facilities management and security services are delivered to NFSA staff and stakeholders with a customer focused manner.
- Manage all NFSA property including the Heritage listed building and public spaces in Acton, storage vaults based at Mitchell and leased office accommodation in Sydney and Melbourne.
- Undertake procurement and manage contracts for the delivery of services, such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, cleaning and gardening, including liaising with contractors and external agencies on property related matters.
- As the Agency Security Advisor (ASA) oversee and manage NFSA physical security arrangements, ensuring compliance with relevant Commonwealth security legislation and policy.
- Undertake the responsibilities of the NFSA Chief Fire Warden.
- Develop and implement the NFSA’s Asset Management and Strategic Accommodation Plans, including negotiating and managing accommodation leases and maintaining the NFSA’s heritage listed building in accordance with the Heritage Management Plan and other requirements.
- Manage budgets and process payments.
- Manage allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
- Liaise with NFSA staff, contractors, landlords and external agencies on property and security related matters including implementation of the Heritage Management Plan and delivery of heritage impact assessments.
- Support the delivery of the NFSA’s emerging environmental sustainability strategy.
- Provide comprehensive written and oral briefings to senior executive management and meet relevant reporting obligations.
- Ensure safe working environments are maintained in accordance with legislative requirements, Australian Standards and WHS policies and procedures.

**Location**

This position is based on site at the NFSA premises in Acton, Canberra. The nature of the work, facilities and security requirements mean that it is expected that the successful applicant will work on premises for the majority of time. The Property and Security team are based in Acton, Canberra, and this position occasionally attends the Mitchell sites.
