Lifestyle Coordinator

Southern Cross Care (NSW&ACT) are hiring for a Lifestyle Coordinator to join the team on a full-time permanent basis for our North Turramurra Facility.
As a not - for -profit aged care provider, we’re able to invest in providing an exceptional experience to our clients as well as support and develop our frontline staff to achieve this. When joining us, you will be provided with an hourly rate of $32.97 per hour + superannuation (76 hours per fortnight) and access to salary packaging benefits of up to $15,900 per year and an additional meal & entertainment allowance of $2,650 per year.
**The Role**:
As a Lifestyle Coordinator you will work in conjunction with the Diversional Therapist and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised leisure recreational programs for our residents.
These programs will consist of a range of one - one programs, small to large group activities including events and specialised activities all driven by the needs, wants and desires of the residents.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Facilitate and coordinate a resident driven leisure program that supports, challenges, and enhances the psychological, social, emotional, physical, spiritual and cultural wellbeing of our residents.
- Provide opportunities in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team whereby each individual resident may choose to participate in leisure and recreation activities which promote self-esteem and personal fulfilment.
- Provide leadership and support to all Leisure and Lifestyle staff and work closely with the staff of the home in providing a high-quality person-centred service.
- Monitor and evaluate the program on a regular basis to ensure that it is meeting the needs of the residents, including suggestions on any improvements
- Support the Leisure and Lifestyle Department to meet accreditation requirements.
**Essentials**
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency status essential (we do not offer sponsorship for this position)
- Certificate IV Leisure and Health (previously Leisure and Lifestyle)
- Experience in leisure and lifestyle activities and Industry
- Knowledge of Dementia and current better practices in leisure and Lifestyle activities
- Demonstrated experience in assisting with planning and facilitating of activity and lifestyle programs at group and individual levels for older persons and frail aged
- Awareness of sensory loss and tailoring appropriate leisure and lifestyle activities
- Knowledge of Aged Care Standards
- Intermediate computer skills
- Display a calm and patient manner at all times with Residents who may have complex needs
- Good verbal and written English communication skills
- A friendly, flexible and patient approach
- Ability to work independently with good time management skills
**Desirables**
- Diversional Therapy qualifications and or Aged Care qualifications
- Sound understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation as it applies to Aged Care Facilities
- Sound understanding of, and ability to correctly apply, relevant principles of the Fair Work Act
