Position Summary

The PHISC Group includes: the Communications and Engagement Unit; Web, the Publishing and Data

Visualisation Unit, the Pacific Health Information and Classifications Support (PHICS) Unit; the My Health,

Information Management, and Metadata (MHIMM) Unit; the Primary Health Care Data Development Unit

(PHCDDU) and the Practice Incentives Program Quality Improvement (PIPQI) Unit.

The MHIMM Unit works to: support Australian Government policy that My Health Record system data be

made available for bona fide research and public health purposes; facilitate record keeping; provides library

and research services; supports AIHW's metadata capability and manage the Metadata Online Repository

(METEOR).
- providing advice to AIHW and external stakeholders for metadata for publication on the AIHW Metadata

Online Registry (METEOR)
- supporting the ongoing administration of the METEOR platform including Servicedesk, workgroup and

user management.
- managing the secretariat for AIHW’s National Health Data and Information Standards Committee

(NHDISC).

- providing strategic advice to the Unit Head on technical matters related to the work program.

Selection Criteria

1. Strong skills in the development and review of metadata, performance indicators, quality statements

and data standards.

2. Proven ability to undertake planning and research to deliver complex projects.

3. Well-developed leadership and people management skills, including the ability to provide direction,

support and effective performance management of staff.

4. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with

influence and negotiate outcomes with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

5. Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to determine priorities, develop strategies,

procedures and work practices.
