What will you do?

Based in our Sydney Office you will join our Built Environment team dedicated to supporting the Defence portfolio where you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of defence projects. The Defence Estate Works Program (EWP) undertakes projects aimed at restoring or sustaining capability and addressing safety and compliance requirements of facilities and infrastructure on the Defence Estate, and it provides for minor development of new capability.

Project Delivery Services (PDS) provide project management services on approved construction, maintenance and consultancy projects that require a centrally coordinated approach across multiple sites as part of the EWP. Aurecon is a PDS provider, and also provides integrated design services on PDS.

In this key role as PDS Regional Design Lead for NSW & ACT, you will lead and manage our design team delivering our portfolio of PDS projects, working closely with key stakeholders, our PDS Program Leadership, our Built Environment Leadership, and our PDS PM Portfolio Leads in the delivery of the PDS Program.

You will be responsible for all aspects of our design delivery, including the planning, scoping, technical design resource forecasting & engagement, quality, and timely delivery of Aurecon design services for the NSW & ACT region PDS program. You will review and approve necessary sub-contracts, reports and design documentation and report to the PDS Regional Program Manager on safety, technical quality, financial and schedule performance.

You will work diligently with the PDS Regional Program Manager, other Regional Design Leads, Design Managers and Project Managers to enable satisfactory completion of the project engineering and design documentation within the set timeframes.

The role includes:

- Leadership and management of PDS Design Managers and their respective project engineering design teams within the NSW & ACT region
- Technical: Understanding of project technical requirements, capabilities and skills required to suit the portfolio of projects, and scoping and delivery of same to required quality.
- Innovation: Engage with other senior technical practitioners to drive innovative outcomes and “out-of-the-box-thinking”.
- Schedule: Drive compressed design and delivery schedule durations and meet the overall PDS program schedule requirements.
- Resourcing: Manage portfolio resourcing requirements, including reliable resource forecasting and deep engagement with technical discipline Practice Leads so that suitable technical resources are available when required for PDS projects.
- Approval of design development artefacts (30% CDR, 90% DDR, IFT and IFC documents)
- Quality: Enforcement of quality and review requirements on all projects, including Aurecon methodology requirements.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant standards, codes, and authority requirements, including Defence requirements and Standards including MIEE, MFPE, SMARTI and DEQMS
- Financial Management to deliver design within budget, including design effort to complete, sub-consultant accruals forecasting and travel on allocated projects
- Ensure adherence to Health and Safety requirements and reporting.
