**Your New Role**
Reporting to the Head of Buying and Merchandise Planning, you will be responsible for ensuring growth and profitability of the Rugs and Cushions category.

The opportunity for this role is to have DecoRug become the authority in the market in this category by combining our expansive network of stores, suppliers and relationships, with your strong knowledge of the market and trends, insightful product selection driven by data and your creative flair, excellent relationship management skills with commercial acumen and results driven focus.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Forecast, select and develop the product range utilising a creative flair and data driven approach in order to capitalise on product opportunities, seasonal and market/consumer trends that result in a cohesive range that meets category targets
- Conduct range reviews and competitor analysis to ensure our products are competitively priced
- Lead strong partnerships with local and overseas suppliers through regular communication and interaction, and manage supplier performance to meet margin, delivery and quality expectations of the business
- Partner with suppliers to source and execute unique, exclusive, first to market products, ensuring imported products meet Australian standards
- Manage product category budget and resulting seasonal plans to ensure full optimisation of product performance, from demand, markdown, stock and intake and returns
- Working closely with Marketing and Retail, prepare and communicate monthly campaign offers and other promotions to marketing and internal stakeholders, meeting deadlines to ensure stores can adequately order to meet and execute campaign launch
- Propose promotional products and ideas that align to the DecoRug marketing calendar that meet sales targets
- Conduct product presentations for the wider teams to gain buy-in and ensure all representation of product is aligned with the agreed seasonal product direction

- Previous experience in a Buyer or Category Manager role within the Rug categories desired, or soft furnishing/homewares experience, ideally in a bricks and mortar retailer
- A working knowledge of current industry trends, forecasts and market conditions, coupled with ability to run competitor analysis and determine competitive pricing strategies
- A proven track record in hands-on category and supplier management; product and stock planning, negotiating, product development and critical path, supply chain, trading, working cross-functionally with stores, Marketing and Ecommerce teams
- Strong analytical skills, numeracy and critical thinking with an ability to develop and utilise relevant reporting in order to make commercial, data/insight driven product decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and stakeholder management both internally and externally
- Diligent and process-oriented, ensuring multiple timelines are met and projects are managed and well executed
- MS Office including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Willingness to get your hands dirty and travel interstate for store visits and internationally for trade shows/supplier meetings (approx. 2 times/year).
