**The Role**
The Vocational Education and Training (VET) Quality and Regulation Branch of the Skills and Training Group is responsible for the development and implementation of measures to improve VET quality, including reforms and regulatory policy aimed at supporting providers to deliver quality training. The Branch supports strategic engagement with a range of stakeholders.
Key areas of work for the Branch include developing and implementing quality and regulatory reforms, including work to revise the Standards for Registered Training Organisations and developing a VET Workforce Blueprint, announced as an outcome of the Jobs and Skills Summit. The Branch works with industry, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), and state and territory governments to inform policy development. The Branch also has policy responsibility for supporting students with disability in VET.
The Branch has vacancies at an EL1 Assistant Director level for people who can work flexibly across a range of topics and projects. The roles require highly developed strategic policy skills, excellent judgement, strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
**Skills and Capabilities**
We are seeking individuals with the following skills and capabilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information succinctly and effectively.
- Strong research and analytical skills to deliver quality advice on policy matters, that contribute to shaping the implementation of key policy priorities.
- An ability to think strategically to identify problems and determine pathways to achieve desired outcomes and objectives.
- Experience working collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver results.
- Experience in managing projects and prioritising work schedules to deliver high quality outputs within deadlines.
- An ability to work productively as a member of a team, and experience in supervising staff.
**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing APS employees as a temporary transfer at level or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 12 months.
