**About the Unit**:
The primary functions of the Fingerprint Sciences Group are the recovery and identification of fingerprint evidence from casework and the maintenance and administration of known fingerprint samples in accordance with Section 464 of the Victorian Crimes Fingerprint Act 1958. Evidence from crime scenes and samples from unknown persons are examined to recover and identify fingerprint evidence and link persons of interest to casework.

**About the Role**:
Contribute to ensuring a high level of fingerprint service delivery, by providing technical and administrative support for laboratory and scene operations.

**_ As the successful applicant, some of your duties will include:_**
- Provide technical support and advice for FSG employees
- Prepare chemicals and reagents as per standard operating procedures
- Operate and maintain existing systems and processes, including technical and scientific equipment, to ensure effective and safe use
- Provide timely and accurate costing, purchasing, and inventory of consumables, chemicals, and associated equipment
- Maintain registers of equipment, consumables, and chemicals, including associated Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Clean and arrange the servicing of equipment and infrastructure
- Conduct quality controls within work area, including keeping records where necessary
- Solve routine problems using readily available information
- Work as part of a collaborative team
- Provide general administrative assistance, maintain records, and compile reports

**Skills & Experience**
- As the successful applicant, you will have: _
- Ability to undertake scientific/technical examinations following established procedures.
- Experience with the operation and maintenance of relevant scientific instrumentation.
- Proven administrative skills including the maintenance of detailed and accurate records.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to impart specialist knowledge and advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work autonomously and/or in a team environment and to manage workloads in order to meet defined/agreed targets and deadlines.
- Prepare reports and provide results on technical matters relevant to own work area.
- An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.
- A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct and the Organisational Values.

**Requirements and relevant information**:

- 2-year fixed term FO-2 position available
- Position is located at 31 Forensic Drive, Macleod, Victoria
- A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Chemistry or Laboratory Skills), or equivalent experience, would be highly desirable.
