About This Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic, results driven rural advocate to lead and direct a range of innovative and sustainable activities which enables medical students to engage positively with rural practice. In this role you will be supporting rural medicine educators and other stakeholders to deliver optimal living and learning experiences in the rural context.

This role reports to the Supervisor of Operations, Rural Clinical School with a functional reporting line to the Head of Mayne Academy of Rural and Remote Medicine. Your passion for rural health, ability to innovate and problem solve, strong communication skills and willingness to provide fearless advice will help you succeed in managing a talented and high-achieving team at an exciting time as we work through the implementation of a new rural curriculum.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Work with the Head of the Mayne Academy of Rural and Remote Medicine to provide leadership and high-level management of the planning, development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of innovative approaches for the delivery of the Rural Medicine placements and other community focused curricula in the UQ Doctor of Medicine MD Program.- Manage, review and process expenses associated with course delivery including casual academic and professional staff, student subsidies, accommodation service fees, clinical education course delivery expenses, and property maintenance.- Supervising course administrator and student coordinators managing student placement and learning experiences in the RRM Clinical Unit with a focus on evaluating, leading and developing the continuous enrichment of the rural medical education.- Contribute to the reporting requirements for the Department of Health and Ageing Program, working with colleagues to address funding parameters.- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships including community engagement activities which will maximise the number of available rural placements and optimise the range and quality of living and learning experiences available for students.- Initiate, negotiate and monitor processes and practices to provide safeguards including appropriate accommodation solutions, health, safety and wellbeing for medical students during their rural placements.- Support Academic team to recruit and support faculty, preceptors, teaching staff and clinical placement sites.- Assist with providing information to students on away placements, contribute to developing suitable posts ensuring they meet the academic, student support and administrative requirements for UQ.- Coordinate and support professional development opportunities for rural medicine educators and other stakeholders.- Support Towards Rural Health Practitioners in Queensland (TROHPIQ) student club to promote and engage students in rural experiences by providing advice and administrative support coordinating opportunities.- Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders including Queensland Health, Hospital and Health services, Health Workforce Queensland and other universities and other relevant stakeholders.- Support the rural and remote research capacity through the provisions of consistent and accurate data.
