**Position Overview**:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as the Head of Legal for our esteemed property development company based in Melbourne. As the Head of Legal, you will be responsible for providing expert legal counsel and guidance to the organization, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and mitigating legal risks. Your strategic insights and leadership will play a vital role in driving the success of our projects and ensuring the protection of the company's interests.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Legal Strategy and Advisory**:

- Develop and implement the company's legal strategy, aligning it with overall business objectives.
- Offer expert legal advice and guidance to senior management and project teams on complex legal matters related to real estate development, contracts, transactions, and other legal issues.

**Contract Management**:

- Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and review of contracts, leases, and agreements with various stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and government agencies.
- Ensure that all contracts are in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and protect the company's interests.

**Regulatory Compliance**:

- Stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations related to real estate development and construction in Australia.
- Develop and implement compliance programs to ensure the company adheres to all applicable legal requirements.

**Risk Management**:

- Identify and assess potential legal risks and provide proactive solutions to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement risk management strategies across all phases of projects.

**Dispute Resolution**:

- Manage and oversee any legal disputes or litigations involving the company.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel as necessary and represent the company's interests in legal proceedings.

**Team Leadership**:

- Lead and manage the legal team, providing mentorship, guidance, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Facilitate ongoing professional development and training for the legal team.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent from an accredited law school.
- Admittance to the Bar in Australia and in good standing.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate law, preferably with expertise in property development and construction matters.
- Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role, with a track record of successfully leading legal teams.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian property laws, regulations, and industry practices.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Mandarin speaking preferred
