**About the role**
This is a new role managing the development and implementation of the newly funded NSW Government Apprentice and Trainee Recruitment and Support (GATRS) team that will support NSW Government agencies and State Owned Corporations who are seeking assistance in the recruitment and management of apprentices and trainees.

This team is being funded as part of the NSW Government’s election commitment to place an additional 1,000 apprentices and trainees into NSW Government Departments and State-Owned-Corporations over the next three years.

This role is time limited and will deliver on key outcomes to improve the take up of apprenticeships and traineeships with NSW Government Agencies and State Owned Corporations. The long term goal is for this team to be a resource to encourage and enhance the use of apprenticeship and traineeship pathways into employment within the NSW public service.

This role is ideally suited to a person who has deep knowledge and understanding of apprenticeships and traineeships in NSW and has experience in managing teams to achieve goals. This person will be required to lead a team to develop strategies and resources in the advertising, screening, interviewing, and placing of apprentices and trainees to meet organisational needs.

The primary purpose of the role will be to manage the GATRS team who include recruitment support staff and field staff to deliver quality services to their clients, including employers, supervisors, apprentices, and trainees.

The other purpose is to establish GATRS as a “go to” resource for all NSW agencies and State Owned Corporations employing apprentices and trainees. The long term goal is for the team to function in a similar manner the Public Service Commission Graduate Program.

**About you**
Do you have management experience and a strong desire to oversee the creation and execution of the recently funded NSW Government Apprentice and Trainee Recruitment and Support (GATRS) team? If you possess the below skills and experience, we would love to hear from you
- Experience in the **Vocational Educational and Training sector **and **management** experience are highly desirable.
- Be able to build a strong network of internal and external stakeholders and collaborative working connections to ensure sincere and ongoing partnerships.
- High level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise workloads, work well under pressure, and organise own work to meet competing and tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

**Essential requirements of the role**
- A valid Working with Children Check
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
