**Division Responsibilities**

The Regulatory Practice and Support Division (RPSD) delivers a range of regulatory functions

for therapeutic goods and controlled drugs and provides important regulatory support

services. These include:

- Advertising regulation and compliance and enforcement activities
- Pricing and billing
- Parliamentary support
- Scheduling of substances and committee support and information services.

RPSD also provides externally facing support through its business systems helpdesk; SME

Assist; education activities and guidance materials; international engagement with other

regulators; and regulatory assistance and information helpdesk.

RPSD includes the Office of Drug Control which regulates and advises on the import, export

and manufacture of controlled drugs to support Australia’s obligations under the United

Nations Convention on Narcotics Drugs; and manages the regulatory framework for the

cultivation and manufacture of medicinal cannabis.

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Regulatory Engagement Branch (REB) is responsible for critical corporate services that

ensure TGA’s financial stability and support the delivery of better health and wellbeing for

all Australians through regulatory excellence. This is achieved through:

- Regulatory education, communication, outreach, enquiry, and information

management to support a greater understanding of, and engagement with, the

regulation of therapeutic goods.
- Engagement with industry, health professionals, consumers, peak bodies and

Commonwealth, state and territory governments to enable collaboration, capacity

building, and consultation on regulation of therapeutic goods.
- Regulatory planning and performance reporting to ensure open, transparent, and

accountable management of therapeutic goods.
- Scheduling of medicines and chemicals in the Australian Poisons Standard to protect

public health and safety.
- Administering a robust cost recovery arrangement.

**Section Responsibilities**

The section sets and manages the cost recovery framework and policies for the TGA and

undertakes activity-based costing, makes recommendations in relation to the TGA fees and

charges; and manages the collection of TGA revenue, including issuing annual charges

invoices and debt management as well as facilitating and managing HPRG labour hire

contracts and processing payment of supplier invoices. The Cost Recovery Management

Section (CRMS) is also responsible for the effective operation of the legislated annual charge

exemption (ACE) scheme and sponsor compliance with the scheme.***

**Key Responsibilities**
- Supervise activities in support of the TGA’s schedule of fees and charges and cost

recovery model.
- Support team leaders and guide support officers with preparation and issuance of

annual charge invoices.
- Coordinate receipt management activities including receipting payments on a daily

basis.
- Coordinate account management activities including a range of financial processing

functions such as effecting account credits and refunds.
- Coordinate debt management activities including payment by instalment plans,

matters of insolvency and supporting team leaders to issue cancellations for non
- payment of annual charges.
- Supervise triage of and responses to, internal and external stakeholder enquiries

including guiding support officers to respond to standard and less complex enquiries

as well as identify issues for escalation.
- Investigate, resolve and respond to complex internal and external stakeholder

enquiries and identify issues for escalation to team leaders.
- Contribute towards identifying and implementing business process and system

improvements.
- Issue monthly statements of account and complete system-based reconciliations.
