**Why Your Role Matters**:
The **Outreach Officer** plays a key role within the Future Students team at Nura Gili Centre for Indigenous Programs and helps promote the value of a University education to Indigenous high school students, non-school leavers, and the Indigenous communities.

The Outreach Officer is responsible for planning and conducting visits, workshops, and outreach programs and events for high school students, with a focus on Indigenous students from regional and remote areas. This role is instrumental in working collaboratively with faculties and divisions to increase Indigenous student engagement numbers across all UNSW campuses.

The role reports to the Future Students Manager and has no direct reports.

**Some specific accountabilities for this role include**:
As the Outreach Officer, you will be responsible for mentoring programs for young people and facilitating outreach workshops that create a culturally safe environment, where they are inclusive to students, their parents, and the community as a whole.

You feel confident to provide timely advice to prospective Indigenous Students, their parents, and high school staff as well as internal UNSW stakeholders, and help students realise their full potential at school maintaining focus on UNSW programs that would best match their interests and talents.

You will be required to travel throughout NSW and at times nationally to represent Nura Gili & UNSW at student recruitment events, expos, school and significant cultural events during the year. You will collaborate and support the central UNSW Future Students team in outreach activities that are aligned to the UNSW outreach and recruitment calendar, roadshows and on campus activities such as Open day, Info day & Orientation weeks.

**Who You Are**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience; preferably in education.
- Knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Indigenous Australian cultures and contemporary issues. (Experience working with Indigenous students is desirable).
- Sound knowledge of teaching and learning pedagogy to facilitate pre-tertiary learning experiences.
- Demonstrated high level ability to plan, schedule and manage projects within set timeframes and allocated resources.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills, including capacity to connect with a varied audience and develop strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- High level organisational skills with proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- A full and unencumbered driver’s license and the ability and willingness to work outside of normal working hours and work at locations across Sydney, NSW and other states.
