Melbourne, Australia Administrative Appeals Tribunal Full time

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal is seeking Associates to provide paralegal, administrative, and case-management support to members of the AAT to assist members with the conduct of their practice. Associates may be assigned to a particular member or members, or work in a team supporting multiple members.

Duties may include:

- Undertaking legal or general research
- Assisting with the preparation, editing, or proofing of Tribunal orders and decisions
- Liaising with parties and their representatives
- Drafting case summaries, correspondence, directions, and interlocutory orders
- Accompanying and supporting members in hearings.

Currently there are two Associate positions available in Melbourne.
- One of the vacant positions is intended to primarily support members working in the National Disability Insurance Scheme Division (NDISD).
- The other vacant position is intended to primarily support members working in the Tax & Commercial Division (T&CD).

To be considered for these current positions, you will need to register your interest by 19 January 2023. More positions in these and other locations are also likely to become available in the near term.

Once on the register, you may be considered for any Associate position that may arise during the period of the register in the location(s) you have identified. Associate position vacancies will arise at different times in different locations.

To be eligible for non-ongoing (temporary) employment with the AAT you must:

- be an Australian Citizen
- be able to satisfy a National Australian Federal Police Records check
- satisfy any mandatory qualification requirements or security assessment which are applicable for the position for which you are being considered
- undertake a health assessment

**About the AAT**:
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) conducts independent merits review of administrative decisions made under Commonwealth laws. We review decisions made by Australian Government ministers, departments and agencies and, in limited circumstances, decisions made by state government and non-government bodies. We also review decisions made under Norfolk Island laws.

The AAT was established by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975 and commenced operations on 1 July 1976.

The Migration Review Tribunal, Refugee Review Tribunal and Social Security Appeals Tribunal were amalgamated with the AAT on 1 July 2015.

The AAT falls within the portfolio of the Attorney-General.
