Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital

To provide an exemplary customer approach to all customers (i.e. patients, visitors), caregiver and others along with maintaining a tidy, clean and safe hospital environment.

This position is varied over a number of different shifts and responsibilities include general cleanliness and stocking of department, transporting patients, and assisting clinical staff to ensure safe and efficient patient care is provided.

The Position- Performs housekeeping and cleaning duties as required / instructed and as per the Environmental / General Services Manual.- Maintaining appropriate levels of stock and supplies.- Monitoring of Linen Supplies and Quality Control.- Assists with the correct, safe, gentle and dignified transfer of patients within the hospital.- Assists nursing staff with patient handling and supervision of patients as required.- Assists nursing staff with bed attachments and movement as required.- Assist clinical staff with document retrieval and patient files as requested.- To conduct him / herself in a courteous and proper manner whilst performing duties or accepting instructions.- Adheres to Infection Management Manual Policy and Procedures.- Maintain Universal Blood and Body Substances (BABS) Precautions at all times.- Is aware of the caregiver vaccination program and immunisation recommendations.- Identifies infection risks, informs Nurse Unit Manager and participates in initiating appropriate action.- Ensure appropriate, cost effective use of consumables and equipment.- To report in the first instance to the department Manager in the matters concerning attendance, grievances, difficulties etc.

You will have experience in commercial cleaning activities and demonstrate an exemplary customer approach.

To succeed you will have ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, a certificate III Hospital Services Assistant is preferable.
