Technical product Manager will be responsible for technical roadmap and implementation of Wayside Monitoring products. The Technical product manger will work closely with the regional TPM, customers and the Wayside Monitoring Product manager and the engineering team to drive strategy and direction for existing and future products. This role will be responsible for the “HOW” of the product supporting the Product Manager who is responsible for the “Why”.

Essential Responsibilities:

- As a technical domain expert for the Wayside Monitoring product will engage closely with the regional TPM’s, customers and the Product Manger to determine the vision, strategy, and roadmap of the product
- Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into requirements.
- Ability to work well with internal teams, including developers, engineers, architects, quality assurance, and operations. Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations.
- Understand, research, and follow technical trends in the industry and in general. Able to assess emerging products and companies to measure their potential value or threat to the company and its products, as well as make recommendations on which new technologies to invest in or leverage.
- Follow competitors and conduct capability analysis regularly.
- Provide internal and customer training on how to use the product.
- Answer incoming questions about the product and its capabilities.
- Assess and address technical risks.
- Understand and analyze data pipelines, algorithms, and automated systems.
- Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance.
- Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation.
- As technical product manager this position will work closely with the engineering team to implement the “How” of the roadmap
- You will identify new opportunities for innovation and be responsible for the management of R&D initiatives
- Responsible for product line performance with targets on new investments, R&D and customer implementations
- Will be responsible for writing, reviewing, and validating technical scope for quotes and proposals
- Drives vision & strategy, roadmap, and product lifecycle for the Wayside monitoring product line.

Required Skills and Experience
- Degree Requirements: Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum Years of Experience: 15
- Education in: Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
- Rail industry knowledge and experience
- Proactively drives portfolio and investment decision to balance customer needs, install base requirements (refresh) and long-term enterprise differentiation.
- Evangelizes concepts beyond current offerings
- Defines pricing strategy for product/ services and alignment across functions and organizations
- Technically savvy to have educated discussions with engineers about costing of various features to generate accurate timelines
- Strong business analysis, problem solving, and strategy development skills
- Evangelizes new technology, predicts trends, and identifies new opportunities based on trends
- Able to translate customer’s business and strategic needs, concerns, and desires into value delivery capabilities of the products
- Proven track record of dealing with competing priorities, resolving ambiguities
- Adopts a holistic systems perspective. Empathizes with multiple points of view. Challenges program/product planning assumptions
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Able to re-appropriate existing solutions to new requirements and situations
- Global travel as necessary.
