**Role**:
The role of the SVRC Manager (Assistant Principal) is to lead and manage the planning, delivery, evaluation and improvement of SVRC’s core services, in order to meet objectives set by the Department to support the inclusion of students who are blind or have low vision in Victorian schools. The SVRC Manager will be responsible for the deployment of resources provided by the Department in order to achieve these aims.

The SVRC Manager must ensure that adequate and appropriate advice is provided to the Heatherwood School Principal on educational and other matters.

**Responsibilities**:
The SVRC Manager is responsible for the overall management and development of SVRC, to the extent that this responsibility is delegated by the Principal, Heatherwood School. The Manager will lead the staff team at SVRC and work to achieve strategic goals established by the staff.

**Responsibilities for this position include**:

- Management of the day-to-day functioning of the programs and services provided by SVRC.
- Management of the performance and development of SVRC teaching and education support staff.
- Planning, monitoring and evaluating the current programs and services run at SVRC.
- Establishing and managing financial systems in accordance with requirements set by the Department of Education and Training.
- Managing the allocation and appropriate use of SVRC facilities, resources and staff.
- Implementing decisions of the Heatherwood School Principal and School Council.
- Contributing to system-wide Department of Education and Training activities, including policy and strategic planning and development.

**Additional Responsibilities**
- Responding to staff and student incidents in a timely way.
- Overseeing communications with stakeholders including families, schools, Department of Education and Training staff and external agencies.
- Promoting a safe working environment by ensuring occupational health and safety policies and procedures are continually improved and implemented.
- Appropriately involving staff, students and the community in the development, implementation and review of SVRC policies, programs and operations.
- Reporting to the Department and community on the achievements of SVRC.
- Other duties as required.
