- APS 5 ($82,535 - $92,609),APS 6 ($90,802 - $110,821) | Ongoing & Non-ongoing | Full-time & Part-time
- Canberra, ACT
**ABOUT THE BRANCH & TEAMS**
The **Risk and Insurance Branch** is responsible for Comcover, the Australian Government’s self-managed insurance fund, which provides broad-ranging coverage for the insurable risks of around 170 General Government Sector entities across the Australian Government (‘Fund Members’). The Branch is also responsible for encouraging best practice risk management across the Australian Public Service (APS). It delivers this through policies, guidance, education and training, project-based support for entities, and secretariat support for the Commonwealth Risk Management Committee.
The **Policy Team** is responsible for the frameworks that support Comcover Fund Members to manage both insurable and enterprise risk. The Team is responsible for the Commonwealth Risk Management Policy, the scope of insurance coverage through the Comcover Statement of Cover, and the delivery of projects that support the identification of specific risks to the Commonwealth and the Comcover Fund. The Team also plays a key role in analysing trends and driving whole-of-government initiatives aimed at strengthening the Commonwealth’s resilience to current and emerging risks.
The **Claims Team** is responsible for overseeing the management of claims covered by the Comcover Statement of Cover. The Team directly manages large, complex and high risk liability, property and other claims. A key area of work is the management of significant claims, as defined under the Commonwealth_ Legal Services Directions 2017_, which are high-profile litigation matters that involve sensitive legal, political and/or policy issues. The team also analyses claims data to identify trends and emerging risks and encourages whole-of-government risk management to reduce liability.
The **Fund Member Services Team** is the primary point of contact for Comcover Fund Members and the Branch lead on the advisory and education services provided to Comcover Fund Members. The team is responsible for the development and delivery of Comcover’s communications to Fund Members across all programs; the development and delivery of Comcover’s education program; and Comcover’s awards and recognition program. As the primary conduit between Fund Members and Comcover, the team collaborates across the Branch in developing and implementing Branch-wide communications and stakeholder engagement strategies.
We are a team which values diversity of thinking, experience, and background. Our team is a melting pot of APS and non-APS staff, from all walks of life; including policy officers, project officers, insurance experts, risk experts, accountants, lawyers, economists, data specialists and others
We encourage new ideas, debate and the taking of informed risks. We work collaboratively and openly, with a focus on delivering results, to achieve our ultimate aim of reducing the legal liability of the Commonwealth by enhancing the risk management practices of Fund Members.
We believe that valuing the whole person is the formula to success, and so support flexible work arrangements that enable you to achieve not only your work priorities, but also all your non-work, life priorities.
