- The Tasmanian Health Service are looking for suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist - Clinical Haematologist position.**The role**:
In accordance with Hospital policies, procedures and statutory regulations, the Staff Specialist - Clinical Haematologist will:

- Provide a consultant service in clinical and diagnostic haematology, including inpatient and outpatient care in haematology, to public and private patients of the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
- Be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- Participate in research and quality improvement activities.

**Duties**:

- Patient Care:

- Provide consultant services in haematology for the care of inpatients and outpatients at the RHH, and where appropriate, in other hospitals across Tasmania.
- Participate in the diagnostic haematology services of the RHH.
- Teaching:

- Provide undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in haematology.
- Provide training to postgraduate specialist trainees.
- Quality Improvement:

- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the services provided to patients.
- Research:

- Maintain an active involvement in research activities.

**The hospital**:
The Royal Hobart Hospital is the State’s tertiary referral centre and is also the primary teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state.

The Department of Clinical Haematology has Staff Specialists with a range of clinical, teaching and research interests and experience. This is a supportive, coherent and highly functioning team which is motivated to meet the service needs of our community.

**Details of Appointment**

Permanent part time day worker position working up to 40 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

**Salary**:
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.

Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package and a range of benefits.

**Eligibility**:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

- Masters Degree/PhD in an appropriate field of medicine
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications to practice in clinical and diagnostic Haematology.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
