In the role of Manager (Freight Coordination) you will work in conjunction with the Manager (Freight Coordinator) based in Cairns to engage with local Councils, retailers, and freight service providers in remote communities to assist with the implementation, promotion and ongoing operation of initiatives and programs to deliver freight funding assistance to remote communities through a retailer applied scheme in the Northern Peninsula, Torres Strait and Gulf regions.

**Some of your responsibilities will include**:

- Leading stakeholder engagement with local councils and retailers during the project implementation phase, in conjunction with the Cairns Manager (Freight Coordination), to encourage remote community agreement and participation in the proposed retailer applied freight funding package.
- Assisting in developing and negotiating scheme rules and a Memorandum of Understanding with the Queensland Remote and Industry Development Authority for a proposed retailer applied freight funding package and other required contracts and in progressing other required initiatives to implement the Remote Community Freight Contracts (RCFC) funding package and to support freight movements to remote communities.
- Working with the RCFC project team to develop and implement appropriate governance arrangements and practices to manage and oversee the freight funding package being delivered through a delivery agent, including performance monitoring, reporting, audit and adjustment.
- Building productive relationships with local councils, retailers, and freight service providers, to facilitate greater efficiency of freight movements and promote positive freight outcomes for these remote communities.
- Building and maintaining productive working relationships and lead engagement with key stakeholders within TMR, other state government departments and federal agencies, to co-ordinate activities, programs and capital works projects affecting freight in these remote communities.
- Responding to stakeholder enquiries about freight co-ordination and/or the freight funding package and assist stakeholders where possible in seeking resolution.

- High level communication, engagement, and negotiation skills.
- Experience in working in a strategic freight role and delivering a range of freight related projects.
- Experience in collaborating, engaging and negotiating with stakeholders in remote communities to implement change.
- High standard of governance, performance monitoring, analysis and reporting, and risk management skills.

A C class driver licence as travel will be required for this role, with frequent travel required until January 2024.
