**About the Organisation**:
Carers ACT are the voice for carers in the ACT and provide emotional and practical support to all unpaid carers.

They can connect carers to other carers, provide advice and guidance, provide a break when needed and offer services to help share the care.

Carers ACT partner with more than 3,700 carers each year - now is your opportunity to ensure their voices are heard.

**The Opportunity**:
As the Communications Officer, you are responsible for building and maintaining the profile of Carers ACT within the community to increase their reach and revenue.

Your core responsibilities will be focused on planning and executing a range of initiatives and processes that
- Promote brand awareness
- Increase engagement
- Attract donors and build market share;
All whilst role modelling the All-Staff behaviours that create a high performing, engaged culture.

This is a permanent, ongoing position located in Holt, ACT. Carers ACT exercise a flexible working culture and you will have the ability to work in both the office and from home throughout the week.

Whilst in the office you can reap the benefits of free parking and ditch the City traffic when travelling to Holt.

**Key duties will include**:
This is an all-encompassing position and your duties will be broad. As the communications specialist you will be expected to have a touch point across all of the communications functions.

Key duties may include, but are not limited to:

- Develop and execute an annual communications and media strategy designed to raise the organisations profile in the community
- Attend external events to promote Carers ACT and promote a partnership approach to supporting the needs of carers
- Promote the service through social media, traditional media, events or activities, stalls, newsletters and other communication channels
- Maintain the organisational website
- Highlight the advocacy work undertaken by Carers ACT
- Produce an Annual Report and other publications that highlight the success of the organisation
- Identify and create opportunities for engagement with potential sponsors, donors or partners
- Work in a team to conduct at least one fundraising event per annum

**Skills and Experience required**:

- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of demonstrated experience in a communications role, preferably in the non-profit sector or aged care industry.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in creating engaging content for various platforms, including social media, websites, and traditional media.
- Strong understanding of branding and messaging consistency.
- Proven ability to build relationships with media contacts and stakeholders.
- Experience in event promotion and coordination is advantageous.

A passion for and understanding of the aged care sector, along with empathy for carers' needs and challenges is highly desirable for this position.
