**About the Organisation**:
The Hester Hornbrook Academy (HHA) provides flexible education and learning options, including VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning) and VETiS (Vocational Education and Training in Schools). In 2023 we will be offering VPC and the VM VCE Certificates. Recognising that mainstream education is not suitable for all young people, our programs are driven by the personal pursuits of students and integrate wellbeing and life skills approaches. Teachers, Youth Workers and Education Support Officers work together to support students. We have classes and outreach learning options for students who are young parents, currently in or leaving out of home care, experiencing homelessness, or who have been disengaged from mainstream education.

**About the opportunity**:
As a Leader within Hester Hornbrook Academy Executive Team, the position will assist with the development of the Hester Hornbrook Healing Oriented Program of Education, co-ordinate research, evaluate projects and activities to achieve high order analysis of the impact of our work.

The Head of Research and Innovation will assist to drive the reputation of the Hester Hornbrook Academy as a leading provider of specialised educational. They will assist with understanding the impact of our work to be evidenced by research.
- Bachelor or Masters of Education/Social work or Business Administration/Organisational Management.
- Completing or interested in completing a PhD.

The Head of Research and Innovation will work with the Principal and the MCM Head of Policy and government relations to identify, develop and implement multi-faceted policy, advocacy and government relations strategies. The role requires a high-level of capability in data analysis, research and innovation to understand and respond to strategic opportunities.
- Work with the rest of the Executive team to implement a healing oriented program of education, ensuring that it is evidence based and supported by research.
- Lead and is an active member of the Hester Hornbrook Academy Research Evaluation Working Group.
- Contribute to organisational understanding of the external environment by monitoring and analysing news and information from government, peak bodies, advocacy groups/social
- movements, think tanks, academia, the social services sector, and other relevant stakeholder segments.
- Provide authoritative advice on trends and emerging issues, including news and information that presents risks or opportunities in relation to Hester Hornbrook and the MCM groups advocacy priorities (which include organisation and sector sustainability).
- Source and analyse internal and external quantitative and qualitative data for policy submissions, position papers and other policy and advocacy collateral.
- Contribute expertise to external research partnerships and projects, including project management as required.
- Oversee best practice and assist to drive improvements in capacity and models of pedagogical practice, professional learning programs and healing oriented teaching and training.
- Work with the Principal to develop and drive the operational plan to ensure the evolution of HOPE, which support the strategic initiatives and direction of Hester Hornbrook Academy.
- Lead at organisational level reporting; providing research, data and student outcome insight to support strategic and operational decision making.
- Research, analyse and write content to evidence impact, including - but not limited to - fact sheets, background briefings, position papers, journal articles, policy blogs and policy submissions and advocacy messaging.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of data and to assist in advocating for educational reform.
- Promote, build, and maintain effective relationships and collaborations with external stakeholders including government, schools, health providers, universities, and industry professionals.

**Other duties**:

- Facilitating regular supervision, whole school and campus meetings, the performance review processes and professional learning as required.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities, as directed by the Principal or delegate.
