**About the roles**
- **Student Project Officer - Strategic **- 12-month contract

This position will see you supporting and assisting the Strategic Land Use Planning team to prepare strategies and precinct plans and progress work already underway on planning for the Parramatta CBD and City Wide Local Environmental Plan (LEP). Council’s Local Strategic Planning Statement and Housing Strategy actions will be pursued by the team.
- **Student Project Officer - Major Projects **- 12-month contract

This position will see you supporting and assisting the Major Projects and Precincts team to prepare strategies and precinct plans as well as negotiate Planning Proposals, Development Control Plans and Planning Agreements, consistent with Council’s strategic vision and objectives.

**About You**

Applicants will ideally have a background in Town Planning or related field including but not limited to policy, architecture, urban design, geography, and social, environmental, and economic studies.

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, driven, and proactive, with the ability to work independently, efficiently, and effectively with a range of stakeholders to deliver effective and positive outcomes.

The Student Project Officer roles are designed for University, TAFE (or equivalent) students who are nearing their final year/s of study in Town Planning or a related field and are looking to develop their experience with Council.

These roles are 12-month contract roles that will support the team.

**Requirements**:

- Enrolment in the latter stages of University, TAFE or equivalent study in Town Planning or related field
- Ability to work proactively and with versatility on a wide range of matters including solving matters of some complexity
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team and to contribute to project delivery (examples could be from course work, personal or work environment)
- High-level computer skills (MS Office), particularly with presentations and report writing
- Highly developed planning, organising and time management skills including the ability to meet tight deadlines and balance competing priorities
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills

We are offering an attractive remuneration package.

A competitive salary will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications, and experience of the preferred applicant, starting from $ 72,579 full time equivalent (inclusive of super).
