**St David’s Neighbourhood Centre Thrift Shop**

Operating for over 30 years, and run by a team of dedicated volunteers, the Thrift Shop is an essential activity of St David’s Neighbourhood Centre community outreach. Funds raised through the Thrift Shop go towards assisting those in our community. The mission of the Thrift Shop is to support St David’s Neighbourhood Centre by providing a place for connection, social benefit, and peace for our community. The Thrift Shop provides:

- Reasonably priced clothing, books, bric-a-brac and household goods
- Access to information regarding social programs and support that the Neighbourhood Centre provides
- Social connection opportunities for members of our community
- An inclusive approach to volunteering and support for volunteers with complex needs.

**The Role**:
This is a new position and is offered as permanent part time at 33 hours per fortnight reporting directly to the Neighbourhood Centre Coordinator. It is responsible for providing leadership and operational support to the Thrift Shop Volunteer team with a collaborative and supportive approach in meeting the mission of the Thrift Shop. This also includes effective management of the shop, volunteers, stock management and cash handling processes. The role is as much about community building and supporting people in our community as it is about retail and facilitates the inclusion of volunteers with complex needs.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide leadership, support, and coordination of the Thrift Shop with the philosophy of fostering a culture of respect and teamwork.
- Support volunteers in effective management of stock processes including receiving, sorting donations, stock management and disposal of unwanted stock.
- Safe operations of the Thrift shop including merchandise displays, maintenance of equipment, cash handling, volunteer resources and customer interactions.
- Working with the Neighbourhood Centre Coordinator in management of the team of volunteers including recruitment, onboarding, training, meetings, and general problem solving.
- Marketing of the Thrift Shop through online mediums, special sales, events, and projects. May include weekend and after hour activities.
- Skills and experience in working with and managing a team of volunteers
- Relevant qualification in retail or business management or relevant work and life experiences
- Experiencing in marketing and promotion of a program, organisation, or business.
- Ability to work with limited supervision in accordance with organisational guidelines and at events after hours and on weekends as negotiated

**Skills that would be an asset to you in this role**:

- Ability to be flexible and willingness to listen to others
- Computer literacy in Microsoft office Suite
- Effective written and oral communication skills and an eye for attention to detail
- Willingness to work within the ethos of the Uniting Church

**Salary**: $39.00 - $45.00 per hour
