**About this role**:

**About the role**:
In this fast-paced role you will support quality decision making for funding decisions in indictable matters and assist with projects and implementation of process improvements for funding expensive and major criminal cases, including supporting processes for seeking advice from VLA's Indictable Crime Program (ICP).

You will provide advice and manage processes for funding decisions as well as coordinate recommendations from the ICP and Grants and Quality Assurance (GQA) team. This includes engaging with stakeholders, address audit recommendations, and leading training for GQA staff.

Additionally, you will develop materials for criminal processes and pathways through the court system, participate in professional development, and identify and implement new policies and processes for improved customer experience and relationships. Also, you will participate in committees and meetings while supporting other work and projects as necessary.
- This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country._

**About you**:

- Demonstrated legal practice experience and thorough knowledge in criminal law, particularly in indictable matters, under both State and Federal legislation.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with, negotiate, influence and build working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce good quality reports and recommendations and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
- A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
