Role purpose
The Digital Publisher is responsible for the review, publishing and coordination of high quality and accurate online content which meets departmental standards.
The role manages the updating, editing and publishing cycle of web pages across a number of different department websites.
The role ensures content meets all standards and guidelines, is accessible and optimised for web, through Search Engine Optimisation practices.
The role will proactively monitor website feedback, escalate emerging issues of concern and suggest strategies to resolve these issues.
As appropriate, they may also be required to provide surge support to other policy portfolios to ensure effective media and communications services can be delivered by the Branch during emergency, crisis and peak periods.
Key accountabilities
**Operating at value range 1, you will**:
- Review, update, coordinate and publish high quality, accurate online content across several different department websites.
- Use a job management system (JMS) to manage requests and collate and prepare content for publication on department websites
- Schedule content in accordance with the content strategy and editorial plan and emergency response as required.
- Coordinate and manage the review and updating of content according to the content review schedule.
- Ensure content meets all standards and guidelines, is accessible and optimised for web, through SEO practices including keywords and tags.
- Proactively monitor and coordinate responses to website channel feedback, solving simple problems, negotiating with stakeholders and escalating issues of concern.
- Deliver consistent, accurate and accountable analytics reporting.
- Monitor performance and lead best practice planning and execution that aligns resources to strategic priorities.
- Forge strong connections with stakeholders (internal and external) and work cross-functionally with other members of the Communications and Engagement Branch to facilitate consistent and high standard strategic content.
- Support digital literacy and digital media integration by providing advice to branch colleagues on integrating digital into communications strategies wherever relevant.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (internal and external) and work cross-functionally with other members of the branch to ensure the delivery of seamless and professional digital communications services for all areas of the department.
- Support the implementation of strategies and guidelines to establish best-practice, build engagement and inclusion, regularly report and measure performance and manage risk.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
