**About the Northern Centre Against Sexual Assault**

The Northern Centre Against Sexual Assault (Northern CASA) is the regional sexual assault support service for the Northern Metropolitan region of Melbourne. It is located on the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital Campus of Austin Health and also operates a number of outposts in the region.

Northern CASA provides therapeutic services to adults and young people over the age of 12 years, who have experienced sexual assault in the past or recently, and to their non-offending family and friends. NCASA provides a range of services including 24-hour crisis care for victims of recent sexual assault (18yrs and over), counselling, group work, advocacy, secondary consultation and training for other professionals and community education.

**About the role**:
A regular day will see you:

- Providing timely telephone, face-to-face and/or online responses to victim survivors who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence and require information, support and/or referral to appropriate services
- Providing advocacy to victim/survivors of both recent and past sexual assault
- Coordinating crisis care responses for recent victim/survivors. This includes the provision of crisis counselling, information on rights and options and linkage to medical and legal supports
- Undertaking assessment and providing brief intensive interventions to victims with complex needs
- Secondary consultation with professionals

**About you**:
You will have:

- A tertiary qualification in Social Work or other relevant health profession
- An understanding of trauma, attachment and development as it pertains to sexual assault impacts
- A minimum of 3 years' relevant post-graduate work experience which includes a practical component such as counselling or advanced case work
- Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or other relevant professional body
- Demonstrated crisis counselling experience and knowledge and skills in supporting survivors of sexual assault and family violence
- High-level assessment and advocacy skills, and experience in supporting victim/survivors within a trauma informed, person centred, intersectional feminist framework.
- An excellent understanding of theory, policy and practice issues around sexual assault and family violence
