**Counsellor/Advocate: Northern Centre Against Sexual Assault (NCASA)**
Part time, fixed term until 30/06/24. 0.7EFT
**Location**: Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital Campus and potentially outreach site in Mill Park
**Classification**: Social Worker Grade 2 or Psychologist Grade 2 + salary packaging + super (pro-rata for part time)

**About the Northern Centre Against Sexual Assault (NCASA)**
The Northern Centre Against Sexual Assault (NCASA) is the regional sexual assault service for the Northern Metropolitan region of Melbourne covering the local government areas of Banyule, Darebin, Nillumbik and Whittlesea. It is situated on the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital Campus of Austin Health and operates several outposts in the Northern region.
NCASA provides therapeutic services to adults and young people over the age of 12 years, who have experienced sexual assault, whether past or recent, and their non-offending family members and friends. NCASA provides a range of services including 24-hour crisis care for victims of a recent sexual assault (18 years and over), counselling, group work, advocacy, secondary consultation and training for other professionals and community education. NCASA is involved in a range of activities aimed at preventing gender-based violence.
**About the role**
A regular day will see you:
- Provide short to medium term in-person or telehealth therapeutic counselling to people affected by sexual assault.
- Participate in the NCASA intake system as required, including face to face, telehealth and telephone crisis counselling.
- Demonstrate advanced, client centred, clinical practice which draws on a range of therapeutic interventions and modality options for clients.
- Provide information, support and psychological education to clients, non-offending family members and other professionals and agencies.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:
- Either an approved tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the AASW or full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA.? An equivalent counselling qualification at Masters level may also be accepted.
- A minimum of 4 years therapeutic counselling experience, preferrably working with trauma.
- An understanding of the impacts of sexual assault and the long
- term corollary of trauma.
- Familiarity with current family violence frameworks and risk assessment.
