**Job Description**:
Melbourne's leading masthead is looking for an experienced production journalist to work at the heart of _The Age_ newsroom. The role involves sub editing, rewriting copy, producing digital assets, and publishing stories to subscribers across digital and print platforms.

You will be working in a team, sharing and developing ideas to lift the presentation of _The Age_’s journalism.

This is a full-time permanent position. The Age operates a 24/7 newsroom and this role may include early morning, evening and regular weekend shifts.

Day to day you will:

- Edit and produce stories for digital and print platforms
- Handle photographs, video and other multimedia content
- Edit digital platforms

**Qualifications**:
The role would suit someone who thrives in a breaking news environment under tight deadlines and has a keen news sense, attention to detail, sharp copy-editing skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

What we would like to see:

- Journalism experience in a digital environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of media law, including defamation and contempt
- Familiarity with analytics tools and SEO
- Excellent grasp of national and international news
