**How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne**

The Support Officer provides general and specialised administrative support to the Health Services team and acts as the first point of contact for customers wishing to access services provided by the Environmental Health Officers.

This is a vital administrative role, as the team depends heavily on the efficient and timely exchange of information and documentation.

Health Services aims to protect the well-being of all those living, working and visiting the City of Melbourne by minimising public and environmental health risks. Health Services is responsible for inspecting businesses to ensure compliance to the Food Act 1984, Tobacco Act 1987 and Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 legislation.

Health Services is responsible for handling food-related complaints, offering information, education, and support to food businesses, addressing noise and odor concerns to safeguard residential amenity, and conducting research and implementing health and environmental initiatives.

**In addition, the position will require**:

- Experience in an administration and customer service role
- Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people.
- High level of accuracy and efficiency with data entry
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a large team

**Desirable**
- Local government experience, preferably in the area of environmental or public health
- Experience in Document Management systems.
