Position Summary

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit is leading the development of national sexual and reproductive

health monitoring data, to inform policy and improve healthcare outcomes. This includes
- engaging with stakeholders to develop a reporting framework for annual reporting,
- developing a strategy to address data gaps,
- progressing data development for new or existing data sources and
- commencing regular reporting under the framework.

Taking a life course approach and attention to key areas such menstruation and puberty disorders,

contraception, termination of pregnancy, miscarriage, and perimenopause and menopause are key

components of this work.

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit is within the Priority Populations & Capability Group at the

Institute, which plays a key national role in monitoring the pregnancy and birth experiences and outcomes of

mothers and babies in Australia, sexual and reproductive health, as well as monitoring veterans' health and

welfare. The Group also supports the Institute to employ advanced analytical techniques and tools, including

machine learning and artificial intelligence.

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit is looking for a Research and Data Impact Officer who can work

with the team to conduct analysis and develop online data and information products tailored to meet a

variety of stakeholder needs from the government and non-government sectors.

As the APS5 Research and Data Impact Officer, you will work under general direction with the Project

Manager and Unit Head to:

- Undertake research and data collection tasks including literature reviews, stakeholder mapping, and

canvassing of online materials and information delivery models
- Support stakeholder engagement processes including coordinating with partners, documenting

stakeholder needs and synthesising key principles, themes and trends emerging from stakeholder

feedback
- Support the presentation and reporting of data related to sexual and reproductive health for priority

populations and key stakeholders, ensuring useability and impact
- Work collaboratively with the team leader, Unit Head and other officers within the Unit
- Draft, review, and provide advice on, relevant products, briefings agenda papers, business cases.

Selection Criteria

1. Well-developed research, analysis and writing skills, including the ability to synthesise information

from a range of sources and present these in various online, written and verbal formats.

2. Demonstrated data visualisation and reporting skills, including the ability to communicate

moderately complex information in a clear and easy to understand format for maximum impact.

3. Demonstrated experience in extracting, interrogating and analysing data sets and/or data

development.

4. Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to effectively plan and manage, prioritise

one’s workload, delegate effectively, and escalate issues when required.

5. Well-developed communication skills including the ability to communicate, liaise, and negotiate

effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

6. Demonstrated interpersonal strengths and experience working with diverse community groups.

Relevant qualifications or experience in web content development and/or sexual and reproductive health is

desirable but not essential.

People with lived or living experience with demonstrated commitment to sexual and reproductive health are

particularly encouraged to apply.
