**Medical Receptionist**
**Position Summary**:
The OB/GYN Medical Receptionist plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth and efficient operations within the OB/GYN department of a healthcare facility. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while performing various administrative and clerical duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Check-In/Check-Out: Greet patients warmly and professionally as they arrive for appointments. Efficiently manage patient check-in processes, verify demographic and insurance information, and update electronic medical records as required. Assist with patient check-out, scheduling follow-up appointments, and processing payments if necessary.
- Appointment Scheduling: Manage the appointment schedule for the OB/GYN providers, ensuring optimal use of time and resources. Coordinate appointments, consultations, and procedures while considering the urgency and sensitivity of each case.
- Medical Records: Maintain and update patient records in compliance with confidentiality and privacy regulations. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and organization of patient files, medical histories, test results, and other relevant documentation.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patients' insurance coverage and eligibility before appointments, and communicate relevant information to both patients and medical billing staff. Coordinate insurance authorizations for procedures or tests as needed.
- Billing Support: Assist in preparing and submitting billing documentation, including coding and claim processing. Collaborate with the billing department to resolve any billing-related inquiries or discrepancies.
- Office Coordination: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area. Order and manage office supplies, ensuring a well-stocked and functional workspace for the OB/GYN department.
- Patient Education: Provide basic information to patients about procedures, tests, and other healthcare services offered by the OB/GYN department. Distribute relevant educational materials when necessary.
- Confidentiality and Compliance: Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines to protect patient information. Comply with all HIPAA regulations and other applicable laws and regulations related to medical records, patient privacy, and data security.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow within the OB/GYN department.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar administrative role, preferably within a healthcare setting, is an advantage.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures related to OB/GYN care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, staff, and visitors.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask efficiently.
- High attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and patient information.
- Ability to maintain a calm and courteous demeanor in fast-paced and sometimes emotionally charged situations.
- Understanding of medical billing processes and insurance verification is desirable.
- Knowledge in Gen2 is preferred
