**Role**:
The assistant principal reports directly to the principal.

Assistant principals have a primary responsibility for the management of significant areas or functions within the school to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program. In exercising the responsibility, assistant principals will have the authority to make all significant decisions relating to the program, budget and staff relating to their area of designated responsibility within the framework of the school's strategic plan, policies and budget. Assistant principals will contribute to the overall management of the school through involvement in policy formulation and decision making.

The management of significant school program or functional areas in schools involve assistant principals in the analysis of the needs of students and the translation of state educational policy and frameworks into appropriate education programs to meet the needs of all students.

Typically assistant principals will be responsible for the effective use of the teaching staff and program budget of a defined area of the school's operation and for the oversight and leadership of the educational programs provided utilising these resources.

**GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work with the Principal team to provide leadership and modelling of college values across the college
- Attend and actively contribute to Leadership and all other relevant college meetings and events
- Adopt college leadership and teacher expectations and model these to other teachers
- Hold staff accountable for implementing all College processes and procedures
- Contribute to the development of the Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan
- Contribute to professional learning at the College
- Identify poor classroom practices by staff and support those staff to improve
- Conduct performance reviews of a number of staff
- Manage the allocated budget

**SPECIFIC POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES**

The Wellbeing and Inclusion Leader will have the following functions:
**_General_**
- Establish an Inclusion Team that will collaborate with the Department of Education¿s Area-based multi-disciplinary teams
- Lead the development of the Disability Inclusion Profile (DIP) funding model at Fountain Gate Secondary College
- Provide support to teachers (coaching, professional learning) with inclusive curriculum and teaching practices, including supporting Learning Specialists and/or Learning teams
- Provide support to Year Level Leaders and other relevant staff with developing inclusive and effective Individual Education Plans
- Lead the school¿s Wellbeing and Inclusion Program
- including identification, screening, and assessment of students with parent/carer(s)
- Lead ES support for Tier 2 and Tier 3 funded students
- Contribute to the case management of Tier funded students by supporting Key Contacts to connect DIP students with both internal and external interventions
- Develop a DIP budget that accounts for all DE funding
- Coordinate the work of the Education Support Staff in the classroom
- Overseeing the appointment of new staff into the Disability and Inclusion program
- Regularly participate in Learning Walks to monitor the support provided to our inclusi
