About You
- Be anticipating completion of their midwifery entrance to practice qualification or nursing/midwifery double degree in the academic year January 2023 to June 2024
- Be eligible to receive initial registration as a Registered Midwifery/ Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia in 2024
- Participate in Post Graduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) APS match process if eligible to do so
- Have never previously participated in a Graduate Program for Registered Nurses or Registered Midwives
About the Role
The Monash Health Graduate Program takes pride in providing our Graduates with excellent opportunities to consolidate their skills, expand their experience as a beginning practitioner and grow their career.
Midwifery and Double Degree Streams offer Graduates the following twelve-month structured program options:
Graduate Midwives complete four (4) three-month rotations within their program:
- Two (2) birth suite rotations
- Two (2) post/antenatal rotations
Double Degree Graduates complete four (4) three-month rotations within their program:
- Two (2) birth suite rotations
- One (1) post/antenatal rotation
- One (1) nursing rotation within a wide range of acute clinical areas
Graduates have the option to work either:
Part time hours
- 0.84 EFT; 64 hours per fortnight
- Five (5) weeks annual leave pro rata over twelve (12) months **or**
Full time hours
- 1.0 EFT; 76 hrs per fortnight and the opportunity to accrue a paid day off every four weeks (accruing at 4 hrs per fortnight)
- Six (6) weeks annual leave pro rata over 12 months
What we offer:
- An extensive Graduate specific paid orientation and training program prior to commencing in the clinical area
- Allocation to a Maternity Team at either Clayton, Dandenong, Casey or Sandringham for the duration of the Graduate Program to ensure continuity of support and learning
- For Double Degree Graduates, the opportunity to rotate to an acute adult clinical area at a range of sites including Monash Medical Centre, Casey Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, The Victorian Heart Hospital and Jessie McPherson Private Hospital;
- Guaranteed permanent employment with Monash Health Bureau on completion of the Graduate Program, at your choice of either part time or full hours
- Paid supernumerary period, paid graduate specific study days, tutorials and debriefs
- Paid leave to complete Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) Fetal Surveillance Education Program (FSEP), Lactation and maternity emergency education

- Graduate specific learning pathways to support your professional development within Birth Suite and Postnatal areas

Commencement
- Double Degree / Midwifery Summer streams commence in clinical areas on Monday 5th February 2024 with a paid Graduate pre-commencement orientation program conducted in December 2023 - January 2024.
- Double Degree / Midwifery Autumn streams commence in clinical areas on Monday 6th May 2024 with a paid Graduate pre-commencement orientation program conducted in April 2024.
- Double Degree / Midwifery Winter streams commence in clinical areas on Monday 5th August 2024 with a paid Graduate pre-commencement orientation program conducted in July 2024.
