The roleThe Strategic Communication and Engagement unit delivers strategic internal and external communication, media, marketing, online and creative services across the Department of Energy and Public Works (DEPW).You will develop and deploy high-level communication, marketing and engagement campaigns and strategies covering the DEPW portfolio, including Energy, Hydrogen, Public Works and Procurement.The role reports to the Executive Director, Strategic Communication and Engagement and has five direct reports.Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with senior management across DEPW, Government Owned Corporations, Queensland Government agencies and key stakeholders relevant to the portfolio regarding communication, marketing and campaign activities. Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative communications and marketing campaigns and strategies aligned to Queensland Government Advertising and Communication Committee guidelines. Ensure consumer insight and behaviour change communications principles are kept at the forefront of communication and marketing campaigns and ensure value for money and cut through. Oversee the management of external suppliers in the delivery of consumer testing, campaign development and campaign delivery, ensuring appropriate return on investment. Lead a communications and marketing team ensuring efficient and effective, client-focused service delivery, and identifying training and development for team members. Maintain an understanding of, and adherence to, human resource and financial management processes and policies. Identify emerging strategic issues that may affect the activities of the branch and the department and coordinate the development and implementation of management approaches. Prepare briefings and correspondence for senior management and the Minister on communication and marketing issues. Positively contribute to the continued development of team, branch and organisational culture and staff engagement strategies. Actively contribute as a member of the leadership team to support strategic planning, operational planning, human resource management and financial management. Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Public Sector values
