**SC5** Demonstrated ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated ability to support others to reflect on their practice and facilitate school-based professional learning.
**Role**:
Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning. Learning Specialists are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students. The role of the Learning Specialist will be to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons and, mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.
The Learning Specialist role is aimed at building excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support Principal Class and be an active member of the School Improvement Team
- Work as a member of the curriculum team to support agendas, minutes and actions from domain meetings as directed by AP - Curriculum
- Liaise with AP - Senior School to ensure all required minutes relating to the VCE, VM and VPC requirements from domain meetings are understood and actioned by set timelines
- Develop and maintain templates for mapping compliance to VCAA requirements across VCE, VM and VPC
- Track coaching of teachers of VCE, VM and VPC to ensure units are planned, delivered and assessed following VCAA requirements
- Communicate VCE policy and process requirements, including information relating to the requirements of the certificate, external assessment and results, to staff, students and families, in line with VCAA requirements
- Plan, communicate and monitor the implementation of the VCE special provisions process
- Lead the creation of the iCARE curriculum at Year 10/11/12 - working closely with Careers and Pathways team
- Work with AP Senior School to check reporting data sets to ensure reports are accurate and completed by set timelines
- Lead how the data is distributed to and used by, VCE/VM/VPC teachers to improve student outcomes
- Developing agreed storage location for all VCE, VM and VPC curriculum documentation within agreed templates
- Work with AP Senior School to complete course selection processes
- Manage the Senior School process and policies for Assessment & Reporting, including the organisation of examination periods (in school and VCAA) - supported by Year Level Coordinators
- Support the AP Senior School to complete senior school handbooks
- Support the delivery of whole staff professional development
- Additional tasks and roles as allocated by the principal
**Who May Apply**:
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
