**About Microbiology**:
Microbiology utilises state of the art automation and technologies as well conventional manual methodology to generate clinically valuable information for diagnosis and treatment of infections.

**About the role**:
This position requires a suitably qualified applicant with relevant experience in a diagnostic microbiology laboratory to work part-time afternoon shift (currently 15:00 - 23:30). This position has potential to evolve to a permanent, part-time/full-time position.

Duties will include:

- **Specimen processing using BD Kiestra automation as well as by manual methods**:

- **Setting up Vitek and MALDI-ToF tests**

**About you**:
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to support our expanding team.

Ideally, you’ll have:

- **A relevant qualification and demonstrable Microbiology knowledge.**:

- **Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.**:

- **Demonstrable time management skills with an ability to prioritise and cope with stressful and emergency situations.**:

- **Experience working in a diagnostic Microbiology laboratory including specimen setup/processing**

Selection Criteria Essential: Ability to work both independently, and in a team environment with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Essential: Availability to work afternoon shift (currently 15:00-23:30) and have flexibility to adjust hours if the shift-time changes slightly
Desirable: Experience with Microbiology automation (eg Kiestra, MALDI-TOF, Urine analyser, Blood culture machine, Vitek, BDMAX, GeneXpert etc), AUSLAB LIS will be highly regarded.
Essential: A relevant qualification and demonstrable knowledge and experience in a Microbiology laboratory including specimen set-up/processing
