- The Energy, Renewables & Emerging Technologies organisation (ERET) is a newly established entity at the forefront of electrical industry training under the Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs) arrangements recently announced by the Federal Government. ERET is formed with the purpose of serving the interests of the Australian energy sector’s skills and employment needs by developing, supporting, and promoting the energy sector skills development in the areas of energy, gas and renewables.

**About the opportunity**:
As the CEO and first employee of this exciting new entity, you will build the foundation by providing your expertise in leadership, strategic direction, and industry knowledge. Your enthusiasm and drive will form the DNA of the entity that, once established, will lead the team to success through the development of innovative strategies and guidance through day-to-day operations.

A key focus area will be Operational and Delivery Strategy, including development of the stakeholder engagement plan. The expectations for the first year of operations in 2023 reflect the significant effort required to undertake workforce planning, build partnerships with key stakeholders, and set strategic directions necessary to achieve outcomes within and across industry sectors.

This role will offer virtual/work from home arrangements with regular travel throughout Australia required.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Work with the ERET Board and Executive Management Team to formulate strategy, policies and appropriate business structures and operational models.
- Set comprehensive goals and objectives and driving performance and delivery.
- Establish a senior leadership team and facilitate the recruitment of subsequent operational teams of circa 50 staff across the new operation.
- Define and implement operating rules and policies that promote company culture and vision and monitor compliance.
- Oversee the progress of daily operations of the organisation including adherence to financial obligations.
- Provide timely and insightful reports to the ERET Board in relation to key performance indicators.

**Selection Criteria**:
We are seeking a motivated leader to hit the ground running. Key criteria required to be successful in this role include:

- Experience in the establishment of a new organisation.
- Minimum five years of Executive management experience.
- Strong aptitude for building networks and in stakeholder engagement (Government, Industry and other stakeholders).
- Experience in the professional services or technology sectors with expertise in electrical, gas and/or renewables highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in the development and execution of organisational strategy aligned with board expectations.
- Financial literacy and analysis skills consistent with the executive level of the position. An understanding of not-for-profit operations would be an advantage but not essential.
- Results oriented with a track record of sound commercial achievements.
- Confident and engaging communicator (both verbal and written).
- Relevant formal Qualifications in business or management.
