**What you will be doing**:
An exciting opportunity is available for an Allied Health Assistant to join the Allied Health team at Nepean Hospital. In this role you will provide assistance and support to the Occupational Therapy team in the delivery of Occupational Therapy services at Nepean Hospital, under the supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist.

The Allied Health Assistant, under direction of the Occupational Therapist, will complete tasks such as:

- Routine practice and retraining for self-care (such as mobility, feeding, dressing, showering and transfers)
- Activities and exercises individually or in group
- Education on energy conservation/falls prevention/hip precautions/personal alarms advice as per Occupational Therapist’s recommendations
- Checking posture and positioning

The role also includes the provision of assistance to Occupational Therapists with Home Assessments, including preparation of equipment and materials, organising the car and assisting during assessments, as required, providing assistance with pick-up and delivery of equipment for patients from the Short Term Equipment Service sites and educating patients and carers in the use and installation of basic equipment as prescribed by the Occupational Therapist completing home visits as requested.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Functional Capacity Evaluation to determine their fitness to perform the role.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

- Certificate III or IV in Allied Health assistance [or willingness to undertake training] with relevant patient care experience
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience and skills in manual handling of patients and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and organise workload
- Demonstrated ability to independently undertake tasks once delegated and operate with mínimal direct supervision
- Current Driver’s licence [P1 or above] and willingness to drive as part of role
