Minor Works Project Officer

**The role**:
We're looking for an experienced project officer to join our Minor Works team on a 12-month contract to support with the management of planned works on water and wastewater network assets. These works include but not limited to alterations and or relocations of the network assets, water and sewer main extensions, installation of sewer maintenance structures and property connection branches. The Minor Works Project Officer will ensure that the construction processes are undertaken in accordance with quality assurance principles, WSAA, MRWA codes and standards and South East Water's corporate objectives.
Over the 12-month period, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Manage projects from inception to completion
- Foster collaborative and trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate developer driven works in accordance with procedures and processes
- Scope the works required and prepare request for quote (RFQ) documents in consultation with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure OH&S and environment compliance needs are met by carrying out inspections, construction audits and test activities
- Undertake audits of contractors and other external contractors, identifying trends and improvements and negotiating implementation of the improvements
- Provide work completion details and reports including quality assurance audits and site reports
- Support the management and resolution of customer complaints and defective works
**Who are you?**:
- Relevant education such as an engineering degree or trade qualification
- Strong project and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and design drawings
- Experience in a wide range of works including construction, maintenance, renewals and repair methods
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems in the construction of water or sewer assets
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence and present and discuss technical information with a variety of stakeholders
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare letters and reports on work standards and issues
- Knowledge in relevant OH&S Regulations, Certified Agreement, WSAA Codes, Aust. Standards and Codes of Practice
- Competent in the use of information technology such as works management systems (i.e. Montage) to be able to accurately input of works allocations

This is a Level 4 position with salary starting at $106,909 + super.
South East Water operates a 24/7 service environment. Whilst this role does not involve after-hours rostered duty, all employees may be required to provide out of hours support from time to time as required.
