The mortuary assistant will provide support services in the Mortuary and in the Anatomical Pathology and Cytopathology Laboratories as required, to ensure mortuary, autopsy and laboratory services are performed and maintained to highest quality standards.
Perform laboratory duties in all sections within Anatomical Pathology as required to maintain operational efficiency including but not limited to; specimen registration, assistance in specimen cut up room, cytology specimen preparation, block and slide filing, cleaning and maintenance tasks, stock management and other duties as directed.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

- Knowledge of, or the ability to gain knowledge of, techniques relating to post-mortem examinations, tissue retrieval and other related Histology and Cytology laboratory tasks.
- Knowledge of the Australian Health Ministers' Advisory Council Subcommittee on Autopsy Practice - 'The National Code of Ethical Autopsy Practice' and the requirements for respect and sensitivity to the deceased and their cultural and religious beliefs and for integrity and confidentiality with all matters pertaining to the deceased.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills, to work in a multi-disciplinary team and liaise with a broad range of clients in a respectful manner.
- High attention to detail and time management skills
